Programming the QP2322 200A 6.5-200V DC Power Battery Meter – Jaycar Electronics

The QP2322 lets you see the real-time Voltage and Amps output of a battery attached via its shunt, as well as cumulative Watt-hours, Amp-hours, and time that it has been connected for.

It can not distinguish between direction of power flow though, so 2Wh of discharge and 2Wh of charge will show a total of 4Wh. You should install separate meters on your battery charge input and battery load output if you want to monitor these independently.

The meter has battery-capacity picture display in the centre to indicate state of charge at a glance - this needs to have its upper and lower voltages set by you to match those of the specific battery type, as not all "12v" batteries are the same. You can get the full/empty voltages from a spec sheet, or cycle the battery from full to empty several times, and note the voltage displayed on the top-left corner of the meter just after you have finished charging (Full), and when the battery no longer delivers useful current (Empty).

Setting the battery capacity - 12.8v Lithium

In this example, we will set the unit to match a Lithium battery whose datasheet says that is fully charged @ 13.8v and empty @ 9.2v.

Tap the button on the meter to wake it. Long press the button till the display changes - it should show "Set Voltage" with the full-battery picture. Long press the button now to change the setting for the fully-charged voltage of the battery.

The numbers will cycle through - the first set of numbers with the decimal point need to be set to 13.8 - tap the button when the number you want to adjust is flashing, and it will increment up by 1 each time you tap.

The second set of numbers without the decimal point need to be set to 013.

Long press the button when the full-battery settings are correct - "Set Voltage" and the empty-battery picture appears.

Set the number with the decimal point to 09.2.

Set the number without the decimal to 009.

Long press when you have set this to save.

Setting the battery capacity - 25.6v Lithium

In this example, we will set the unit to match a Lithium battery that is fully charged @ 28.4v and empty @ 19.2v.

The numbers will cycle through - the first set of numbers with the decimal point need to be set to 28.4 - tap the button when the number you want to adjust is flashing, and it will increment up by 1 each time you tap. The second set of numbers without the decimal point need to be set to 028.

Long press the button when the full-battery settings are correct - "Set Voltage" and the empty-battery picture appears. Set the number with the decimal point to 19.2, and the number without the decimal to 019. Long press when you have set this to save.

Setting the battery capacity - 102.4v Lithium (4x 25.6v)

In this example, we will set the unit to match a series Lithium battery pack made up of 4x 25.6 batteries that is fully charged @ 113.6v and empty @ 76.8v.

The numbers will cycle through - the first set of numbers with the decimal point need to be set to 13.6 - tap the button when the number you want to adjust is flashing, and it will increment up by 1 each time you tap. The second set of numbers without the decimal point need to be set to 113.

Long press the button when the full-battery settings are correct - "Set Voltage" and the empty-battery picture appears. Set the number with the decimal point to 76.8, and the number without the decimal to 076. Long press when you have set this to save.

Other settings.

You do not need to change the Amps setting unless you plan on drawing more than the default 100A.

To change the Amps maximum, tap the button on the meter to wake it. Long press the button till the display changes - tap the button once to get to "Set Current". Long press the button, and it will display the Amps numbers (50-300), tap the button to change the number to the desired maximum, and long-press to save.

The remaining options are to reset the cumulative Wh, mAh and time counters. Long press to enter the menu. Tap to get to the counter you want to reset, long press to reset it.
